Veterans Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ

After years of driving past Veterans Memorial Park in Toms River, Bill and I finally decided it was time to visit and take a few photos.

The center of attention is a "Greatest Generation" WW II soldier being carried off the battlefield on the shoulders of an Iraq/Afghanistan veteran.

On the right you see a WW I Doughboy.  To the left you see a Viet Nam era soldier.

This bronze statue is an unarmed combat nurse.

The statue on the left is a Korean War veteran using a walkie-talkie.  Being so close to Veterans Day, I thought it was about time for a visit to see these beautiful bronze statues in honor of all our veterans,

Whitesbog Village, Browns Mills, NJ

Welcome to Whitesbog Village!

This is the first time Bill and I have been here.

Look closely and you can see
a pair of turtles sunning themselves.

A closeup of one of the turtles.

This reminded us of the Upper Penisula
of Michigan!

A sheltered cove of water lilies!
Just so beautiful.

A closeup of one of the white
water lilies.

Some ferns near a small stream.

Bill requested I take this view.

I found what I will call the little islands
in the background intriguing.

A closeup of some pink water lilies.

With water on both sides of the road,
it reminded me of driving on the
top of the dikes in Louisiana.

Enjoy the scenery!

No, we did not go inside the General Store.
Perhaps next time.  I think the autmn
would be nice with the colors changing.

Stopped at the Country Lakes Pub on the
way home and got Philly Cheese Steaks that
were really delicious.  I had to have a picture
of this sign that welcomed us to the
Pine Barrens!
