Desert in Bloom 2010: Enjoy the View!!!

Home Again, NJ

I finally was able to get a good sign for Pennsylvania!
I have tried many times to get the one coming from NJ
into PA from the bridge and it is just not good.

This is where we started our trip in Carlisle with
our friends Rick and Judy. We end our meals here
to come full circle.

I think this is the first time I actually took a
picture of the welcome sign to NJ. We really
need to spruce up the sign to be in running
with the lovely signs we have seen elsewhere.
I hope to post "Desert in Bloom" tomorrow night.
So, check in one more time after this!

Morgantown, West Virginia

I was pleased to see that West Virginia has
returned to the "Wild and Wonderful" as
part of their tourism slogan. For a number of
years it had been removed.

I have never chewed tobacco and will never,
but have always been fascinated with the
signs on the barns, etc.

Here you see the Ohio River.
They have had many severe rains in the
mid-west so the river is about seven
feet higher than normal with a fast current.

Another view across the river to Ohio.

The Mason-Dixon Line.

This is the actual geographic marker.

We made a little detour of about one hundred
miles to get to this "real" Russell Stover store
near Wheeling, WV. The one we visited in
Abilene, Texas was a tiny one with no
bloopers to buy. I asked the sales associate
at that tiny store why there were no bloopers.
Her response was they don't make mistakes
at the Texas plant, so there are no bloopers to sell!!!

I love these rolling hills. Bill once again had to
make one of his famous u-turns for me to
capture this.

Bill liked the clouds in the sky.
What a contrast to the desert.
