LA Gulf Coast

As you can tell, it was another cloudy day with rain
interspersed as we traveled west to Abbeville, LA.
We picnicked right on the coast of the Gulf
of Mexico.  All sorts of birds were swooping
about and we saw fish jumping out of the water.

It was rather peaceful and quiet.

We were entertained watching this white
heron zoning in on some sort of action
going on.

Pink American Poppies dotted the side
of the road...

...along with Black Eyed Susans.

Barge canals, like this one, are all over the
Gulf of Mexico.

Imagine our surprise when we found out that
sugar cane is grown in this region.
