Entering Spearfish Canyon, SD.

Bridal Vail Falls in the canyon.

Spearfish Creek flows through the canyon.

We stopped in Custer, SD so I could have
my picture taken with one of the many
painted buffalo.

We are always on the lookout for wildlife.
Here are a couple of pronghorn antelope.

In Hot Springs, SD, we found a mammoth bone site.
Thirty five years ago community minded people
realized the importance of these bones and built
a large and elaborate working dig site and museum.

An example of the bones as they were found in the dig.

Bones of a short faced bear that once stood almost 16 feet tall.

A full size replica of a mammoth.
In the background you will see a hut that is
made of mammoth bones and covered with skins.
