Jackson, WY

We came across "Hell's Half Acre, about 20
miles west of Casper, WY on Rt. 26.

First glimpse of the snow capped Rockies
from about 50 miles away.

Odd rock formations along Rt. 26.

Like most rivers of the west, the Wind River in Wyoming
closed sections of Rt. 26 from Riverton to Dubois for
more than two weeks. It is still overflowing its banks
because of the excessive snowmelt. Many parts of the
Rocky Mountains had 30-50 feet of snow last winter.

Some fields still remain flooded.
Bill has been following this story on the
computer for the last three weeks.

Sandstone rock formation.

Unidentified purple flowers.

Approaching Grand Teton National Park,
we found this breath taking view.

I got a chance to see my first grizzly bears.
Here is a mother grizzly with her two cubs.
Don't forget to double click on the photo to enlarge it.

We watched them for about 15 minutes as they moved
around the piles of snow. From the position of the
mother bear, Bill is sure that her cub is being
scolded for doing something wrong.

Here is a picture of the snow covered high meadow
where bear, elk and deer like to forage.
