Cajun Critters Swamp Tour, New Orleans, LA

With a small crew of only six guests, we sailed
through the levee lock and into bayou country.

The first animals we saw were three turtles
sunning themselves on logs.  Can you find them?
Don't forget you can click on the picture
to enlarge it.

Bill is on the bow of the boat watching for
alligators.

Along the waterways a variety of vegetation
grows profusely.

Trees laced with Spanish moss abound.

Our first alligator sighting.  The Captain throws
marshmallows to lure the alligators closer.

Interesting vegetation.

Another larger alligator approaches the boat.

Here we have a group of bald cypress.
My daughter had similar pictures when she
went on the same tour years ago.

This is a large cluster of water hyacinths.
Under ideal growing conditions, this
cluster could grow to cover more than
twenty acres.

Here is a closeup of the flower of
the water hyacinth.  It has no fragrance,
but is delicate and beautiful.
They are kept afloat by air filled bags.

We had a really nice time on this boat
for almost two hours.
