North Rim of the Canyon of the Gunnison, CO

Blue Mesa Reservoir just outside
of Gunnison.  It is part of the Curecanti
National Recreation Area.

Because of a severe shortage of
precipitation, the reservoir is 25'
below normal.  Note the bathtub ring
across the lake and a sandy
beach nearby.  These should be
under water.

A beautiful cluster of sagebrush.

Dillon's Pinnacles are seen to the
right side of the picture.  If you are
looking at these on a computer, you can
tap the photo to enlarge it.

Bill took this shot looking straight
down into the canyon.

The Gunnison River, looking
down the Black Canyon.
Some parts of the Canyon
only see daylight for 28 minutes
a day due to the steep walls.

The Curecanti Creek which flows into
the reservoir.  Note the recently
blooming aspen grove above the creek.

The blackness and depth of the
Canyon never ceases to amaze us!

A beautiful long view of the Black Canyon
of the Gunnison.

Good bye from the North Rim of the Black
Canyon of the Gunnison, CO.
