Silver Thread Scenic Byway (CO Rt 149)

A beautiful day to start a trip on the
Silver Thread Scenic Byway, which
is CO Rt 149.

A pretty little chapel along the way.

We have begun to climb higher in
altitude as you can see from
the snow covered peaks.

Another stunning sight
along the way.

San Cristobol Lake.

The San Juan Mountains seen from
the Slumgullion Summit of
11,530 feet.

Bill spotted these dams built by
beavers.  The newer one is in
the front.

 Lake Fork Gunnison River.
The surrounding walls
resemble those found in the
Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

This is the canyon of the Lake Fork
Gunnison River.
