Grand Canyon, AZ: 5-17-10

Leaving the Grand Canyon, we traveled east
along the rim road. Here are a few parting views.

The Colorado River created the Grand Canyon
over a period of 1,800,000,000 years.
Only in the eastern most section of the Park
is the river visible.

As we took the final picture of the Colorado River,
it became cloudy and very windy.

About 20 miles southeast of the Grand Canyon, we
photographed the Little Colorado River.
I stayed in the car and let Bill be the photographer
because the road was steep and rocky.

This canyon is about 1,000 feet deep.

Walking slowly toward the unguarded edge.

Looking into the canyon, Bill was surprised there was no water.
Utility use and agriculture has taken the river.

Orange wild flowers along Rt. 160 against the red sand.

Two solitary formations look like Elephant Legs
and are named thus.
