New Mexico wild flowers.
Long view of the drying area of Eastern New Mexico.
Route 104 takes you to and over the Canadian
Escarpment. It is approximately 2000 feet high.
This is high land that has shear walls.
On top it is generally flat with its own
unique vegetation.
This is ascending the Canadian Escarpment
looking back at the Great Plains.
On top of the escarpment, which is several hundred
miles long and extending to the Rocky Mountains,
is an area called the High Plains.
A llama on the High Plains decided to pose for me.
Smile!!!
Standing on the High Plains we looked west
to the snow capped Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
