We started today's adventure (May 19) at Arches National Park.
This formation is called the "Three Gossips".
To me they look like the Three Wise Men.
"Balanced Rock" is the formation in the middle.
With all the strong winds we've been having,
we are surprised it is still balancing.
It is called Arches NP because of the number
of arched formations found. This one
is part of "The Windows".
Here is another part of "The Windows".
The weathering on this formation is very visible.
"Delicate Arch". You can judge its size
by the people beneath it.
"Furnace Fire"
"Park Avenue"
We are now in the northern section of Canyonlands.
The Green River joins the Colorado River
in Canyonlands. Many of the formations
are reminiscent of those we saw in the
Grand Canyon.
Bill is standing near the rim of the Colorado River.
Grandview Point with the Colorado River hidden
deep in a gorge near the top of the picture.
Note what look like trails around the gorges.
These were made more than 40 years ago by
miners digging for uranium. Vegetation
grows so slowly that the scars of the roads remain.

Fantastic photos. The roads you see below Grandview Point are still in use with 4WDs and bicyclists. There are hundreds of miles of othe jeep trails in the area that are washed out or closed by the Park Service.
